Since some of you have been asking: YES, I am going to Otakon:-) 

It was up in the air for a while because I didn't want to spend any $$$ before Dragon*Con, but I'll be going on NekoCon's dime. I'm really looking forward to my first OTA!

I'll be rolling in to the Murder Capital of the U.S. (at least it used to be a few years ago) Thurs eve, and rolling out early Sunday. I have to help Neko set up our booth Thurs eve, and do at least one shift either Fri or Sat AM (COME BY AND SAY HI!) but other than that I am free for photoshoots and mischief;)

OTA Photoshoots: I think everyone who reads this has my contact info, or at least knows someone who does. If you want to do a photoshoot, let me know as soon as you can so I can get an idea of scheduling (but don't worry, I'm always up for impromptu or last min shoots.)

I'm leaving in a few mins to go watch my girl practice/qualify for tomorrow's SunTrust Indy Challenge in Richmond! I usually only go up for the race on Saturday, and last year I got to "meet" Danica (and a few other drivers) so this year I'm going up today because there's an autograph session (and I heard that Friday's is a little more casual with the drivers walking around and hanging out in the stands.)

Mail Online is reporting a rumor that Christian Bale, Vanessa Redgrave, William Hurt and Saoirse Ronan are all in talks to join Russell Crowe and Sienna Miller in director Ridley Scott's Nottingham:

Christian Bale, soon to be seen as the caped crusader in The Dark Knight, is in talks about donning the jolly Lincoln Green outfit of Robin Hood, where he will be part of a menage a trois between Russell Crowe's Sheriff of Nottingham and Sienna Miller's Maid Marian.

Nothing is signed for Bale, but director Ridley Scott is exceedingly keen to cast him.

Costume fittings begin next week, so he'll be either in or out by then. Vanessa Redgrave and William Hurt are also in discussions about being in the film, which is called Nottingham.

Saoirse Ronan (who appeared with Vanessa in Joe Wright's award-winning film Atonement) will also be in the picture.

Crowe and Bale starred together in last year's 3:10 to Yuma. We'll have to wait and see if they will sign onto the project, which Universal is looking to release on November 6, 2009.<<

Doctor Who News (for the few FListers who care) [May. 20th, 2008|03:26 pm]

>>BBC Wales and BBC Drama has announced that BAFTA and Hugo Award-winning writer Steven Moffat will succeed Russell T Davies as Lead Writer and Executive Producer of the fifth series of Doctor Who, which will broadcast on BBC One in 2010.

Moffat has penned some of the series' most unforgettable and acclaimed episodes, including Blink, with its terrifying weeping angels, for which he was awarded the BAFTA Writer Award 2008 on Sunday 11 May.

His previous work on Doctor Who includes The Girl In The Fireplace for series two, which earned him his second Hugo Award. His first was for the series one two-parter The Empty Child, which became famous for its terrifying refrain "Are you my mummy?"

For the current series, Moffat has written Silence In The Library, a two-parter starring Alex Kingston which transmits on 31 May and 7 June 2008 on BBC One.

Doctor Who will return in 2009 with four specials, and the full-length fifth series is currently scheduled to be broadcast on BBC One in Spring 2010.<<

Series 5 will not air next year:-(

Also - Blink has been one of my favorite eps from all of the current series.

About frakking time!

First nine mins were my favorite - it looks like they've upped the ante on special effects, because I don't recall other space battles looking as good as tonight's ep. You can see the ships better, which is something this sci-fi fanboy always enjoys.

I wish the Sci-Fi channel was in hi-def here.

Before I start posting Katsucon 2008 pics, I wanted to post this last AUSA 2007 set.

This is Leigh, aka Unico (on ccom) cosplaying Tira from Soul Calibur. I just happened to run into her when I was looking for some other people, and since I couldn't find them and she couldn't find her friends, we decided to do a quick shoot. I really wish I had my new camera back then, because it's much better suited for the conditions we were shooting in - you can see a difference in my night shots between my old Rebel XT and the current hotness of CapricamSix.

Writer's Strike just about OVER!!! [Feb. 8th, 2008|12:48 pm]

 >>A deal has been struck between the major media companies and the Writers Guild of America to end the writers' strike, former Walt Disney chief executive Michael Eisner revealed on CNBC.

"It's over," Eisner said. "They made the deal, they shook hands on the deal. It's going on Saturday to the writers in general."

Eisner, speaking live on CNBC's "Fast Money," seemed to hesitate initially about whether it was possible that the writers could still reject the agreement, but finally suggested the deal's acceptance was inevitable.

"A deal has been made, and they'll be back to work very soon," Eisner said, adding, "I know a deal's been made. I know it's over."

Eisner did not elaborate on terms of the agreement. He said he expects most of the media companies affected by the strike to have "small" write-downs as a result of the deal. Eisner said the deal was struck last Friday.

The writers are scheduled to meet and officially set it in stone this Saturday.

The news about Bionic Woman surprised me. I had high hopes for the show, and figured they'd be tweaking it and such - and I hadn't read anything anywhere else about it being outright cancelled.
